La GP2 Series (abreviada GP2) es una competición de automovilismo de velocidad creada en el año 2005 para sustituir al hasta entonces "trampolín" de la Fórmula 1, la Fórmula 3000.
Diseñada para hacer carreras igualadas entre los equipos y un entrenamiento ideal para la vida en la Fórmula 1, la GP2 es una categoría monomarca, lo que obliga a los equipos a usar el mismo chasis, el mismo motor y los mismos neumáticos, para que se demuestre la habilidad del piloto.

The GP2 Series (abbreviated GP2) is a speed racing competition created in 2005 to replace the hitherto "springboard" of Formula 1, Formula 3000.
Designed for racing teams and matched between ideal training for life in Formula 1, GP2 is a single-brand category, which forces teams to use the same chassis, same engine and same tires, so that demonstrate the ability of the pilot.

Since its inception in 2005 the GP2 Series has firmly established itself on the world stage as one of the premier one-make racing championships in the world.
